You don’t have to hide anymore.
As an introvert, I’ve found comfort in replenishing alone.
but somehow, along the way, I’ve found safety in hiding.
Hiding behind yes to keep others happy.
Hiding behind a smile to keep grief from showing up.
Hiding behind busyness to keep my mind from wandering.
Lately, as life has had its fair share of troubles,
I’ve been reminded that healing isn’t found in hiding.
If hiding is our response to life’s problems, to make others happy, to seek peace we are finding refuge in something that will not last.
Hiding from hurt will only cause more heartache.
Hiding from grief will only cause more groaning.
Hiding from anger will only cause more agony.
In this season, I am learning that when I choose to hide from my hard feelings, tough circumstances, and growing pains, I am doing a disservice to my healing.
When I choose to hide, I am not playing it safe; I am holding my pain hostage.
I am allowing it to control me, to dictate my actions and emotions.
And in doing so, I am moving my heart away from home, away from the comfort and peace that comes from acknowledging and addressing my feelings.
