My friends and I had been planning a girls’ trip for what seemed like years,
and finally, we were set to go during the summertime.
I walked into my doctor’s office, giddy about our travel plans, and the excitement quickly faded when she looked at me and said “hell no.”
“You cannot risk getting on that plane with a twin pregnancy. You may feel a bit better now, but you need your medications, iv fluids, and your iron is incredibly low. What if you have to go to the hospital? No.”
Tears rolled down my cheeks, and disappointment set in, as I wasn’t expecting a hard no, and a change of plans.
Sometimes things don’t go as planned.
No matter how much you try to control the flow,
the waves tend to go in a different directions.
Lately, I’ve been crushed by the waves of life.
There have been numerous changes, closed doors, and unmet expectations
that have left me feeling overwhelmed and defeated.
Yesterday as my dad and I shared a sweet moment in the ocean
I was reminded to just breathe.
”Respira y enderezate un poco”
Just breathe and straighten up a bit, he said
while encouraging me to float on the water.
It was during that moment that I was reminded that things happen.
